In late December, 1994, a group of students requested a meeting with: Elizabeth Kautz, Mayor for the City of Burnsville, Dr. James Rickabaugh, Superintendent of Independent School District 191 and Dr. Richard N. Manley, President of Manley & Associates, to discuss the feasibility of developing a centralized facility in which they could practice and develop their skills in skateboarding, in-line skating and bicycling. From this and subsequent meetings, a mission was created:
To provide a facility in which skateboarders and in-line skaters may practice and
develop their skills in a safe and challenging environment.
A non-profit corporation was created in 1995 and is registered in the state of Minnesota as: Burnsville Skate Park, Inc. This serves as a pledge to our participants to provide a facility in which all proceeds will be used to further develop and maintain this great facility.
