'eliza blue craft acoustic ballads filled with sorrowful sentiment and minor-key inflections. their debut release, One Year, features the rich voice of elizabeth bonacci, who instills each tune with powerful...melodies. the band's music is lush and sorrowful; each song wallows in exquisite misery...fans of nick drake will find much to enjoy here.
'~ casey rea, seven days, burlinton, vt 'traditional music is coming back like the blues did 30 years ago...with that folkin' wave comes elizablue, a celtic folk band with a dark saturine lugubrious sound. they are experienced as musicians though, and have a nice sound...elizablue really seems genuine. as they grow and reach their pinnacle as songwriters [their] deep inward soul searching will pay off, like another folkie/rocker, john lennon.'~ andrew olson, reader weekly, duluth, mn 'When I first popped One Year into the CD player, I was not too impressed. However, after several listens, I started to modify my opinion. There are variations between the tracks, although subtle to a casual listener. Now, my only issue with the CD is that it is too short. I enjoy Elizabeth's vocals and admire both artists' skill on various instruments. This Minnesota couple has some more writing to do (I hope)!'~ wil owens |
