'Based on her appearance --- which is hard to igrnore, given the '70s mirror shades, Day-Glo leggings, and two-toned neo-mullet --- you might assume that Apryl Electra is some electro-clash warrior, thriving on gender-bending and shock tactics. And you'd be mostly wrong. The local singer's debut album From the Padded Cell of Suburbia, a collection of piano-driven rock songs, goes down smoother, like a less despondent Tori Amos. But as soon as Who's Keeping Score shows up with the thump of a mechanical kick drum, it's apparent that this is a girl who knows how to party. I mean, just look at her.
'~ - Lindsay Thomas, City Pages 'She has a great voice and is hyperactively entertaining in an enjoyable way.
Apryl Electra plays great parlor music for the 21st century.'~ howwastheshow.com 'One of the best songwriters in the Twin Cities.'~ Kat "Pony" Smith of the Melismatics |
