'We arrived in time to see one of the bands that had drawn me to showcase to begin with, Endless Blue, a band comprised of remnants of another great local electronica band State 4.
Endless Blue, sure to be a favorite among fans of Portishead, Tricky, Hooverphonic and others of that guild, features Laura Hillman on vox, Nick Mitchell on guitar and keyboards, Amanda Oeschle on additional vocals, and Edward Brennan on additional porgramming and keys. I was pleased to hear familiar cuts from their new 2004 eponymous album including September and 1999 (not the Prince song), and a cover of Sade’s No Ordinary Love. In my opinion Endless Blue is underrated; though I would like to see their sets (and their next disk) include bright up-tempo numbers. In the meantime, Laura Hillman’s delicious vocals are reason enough to get out and see this band. Endless Blue are also featured on a complilation CD, Twin Cities Electropunk Volume I which can be obtained for free at any of the participating bands shows.
'~ David DeYoung: howwastheshow.com 'All I can say is WOW Powerful, Ambient and Amazing. Top-notch vocals, production, beats and melodic, haunting melodies. I find myself singing these songs in the car, in the shower and while working out. I can't wait to say I had the CD back when. Keep it up. Can't wait for the next release!!! A BIG FAN'~ A.
