Lisa Richards

Her new CD 'Mad Mad Love' was recorded in New York and in Austin, Texas over several months, with producer and co-writer Tim Bright. Tim gathered a sparkling cast of musicians including; John Deley (Keyboard player from Dido), Tim Luntzel (Bass player from Bright Eyes) and Dan Reiser (drums, Norah Jones, The Little Willies). In Austin, producers Craig Ross ( Spoon,Patty Griffin) and Lisa's husband Jeff May offered stark, haunting arrangements. Billy Masters (guitarist, Suzanne Vega, Dar Williams, Matt White), uses loops and atmospheric, multi-layered guitars on his 2 contributions. As a singer, Lisa's voice has been compared to Bjork, Billy Holiday and Lucinda Williams, although the most frequent comment listeners make is that she doesn't sound like anybody else.

Her previous CD’s received positive reviews in Billboard, Relix and Rootstown magazines, as well as in local and regional publications throughout the USA, Europe and Australia. Lisa has toured in Texas, Louisiana, Colorado, MA, Pennsylvania California, New York, New Jersey and Australia. This will be her first trip to Portland, Maine.

As a songwriter, she’s been a finalist in The Billboard Song Contest, the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, the Rocky Mountain Folks festival, The Chris Austin Song-writing competition at Merlefest, The Kerrville New Folk Competition and The International Song-writing Competition.
