The Camdens fuse the warmth of progressive pop and irresistible melodic hooks with a depth and clarity that is being compared to the marvels of bands such as The Sundays, The Smiths and Everything but the Girl.
The Camdens merge perfectly the energy of powerfully driven guitar, Motown inspired rhythms, and dynamic vocals with the intimacy and intensity of ballads that capture the hearts of their audiences.
The Camdens draw you in with melodic pop sensibility, then surprise you with rich and complex lyrics that are delivered by a voice that is lush, charming, and inviting.
The Camdens are the creation of guitarist Scott Walker and vocalist Katy Vernon. These two native Londoners connected in Minneapolis in 1996 and quickly emerged as one of the great acts of the Twin Cities coffee shop circuit. For over two years they steadily built a strong fan base as they continued to write and expand upon their sound.
In November of 1997, they introduced the work of bass player Brad Konkel to mix. His Motown influenced bass lines infused the band with a new dimension of depth and complexity. His funk inspired rhythms compliment Walker's guitar work perfectly while adding a powerful soul-filled intensity.
Finally, drummer Tom Henderson (formerly of The Twin Cities band The Delilahs) joined the group. He has injected drum lines that are brilliantly original, energetic, and filled with a strength reminiscent of classic Minneapolis power-pop.
The Camdens' concert calendar includes appearances at the Taste of Minnesota, the Uptown Art Fair, and the Stone Arch Festival. |
