Leo Bixby Music, formerly known as the Fifty-First Monkey, was originally put together by trombonist Christopher Robin Cox and guitar player Chris Webb in 1995, while they were both students at Sonoma State University. The band played successfully all over the San Francisco Bay Area. Performing all original music, the band broke the jazz mould and got gigs opening for rock, blues, funk, and jam bands all around Sonoma County. They have also headlined in New Orleans at such clubs as The Funky Butt, the Dragon's Den, and Vaughn's. In New York City, the band has played the Vision Festival, headlined at the Knitting Factory - on both the Old Office stage and the Knitactive Studio - , the famed punk band mecca The Sidewalk Cafe, the C-Note, and many others. Christopher Robin Cox has relocated to Saint Paul, Minnesota where he has reassembled the band with great local musicians. Leo Bixby Music will be available for bookings as of March, and would prefer to play double bills with jam bands and other genre-bending acts. |
