Brokenheart Jones

Cigarettes, whiskey, old guitars, telling lyrics, and the voices of broken men bearing their struggle through your headphones. The make-up of Brokenheart Jones is a story reflective of every man. Formed in the summer of 2003, this alt. country quintet hails from the big and lonely Twin Cities in Minnesota, USA. BhJ presents a blend of Americana Roots and Alternative Country music that is the product of the individual players’ mixed backgrounds, the common sonic influences they all share, and the passion to tell an old story in a new inspiring way.
Brokenheart Jones released its first full-length record entitled Winded, in the early winter of 2004. Winded proved to bring new hope to fans of the Minneapolis music scene, and was warmly written about in publications local to the Twin Cities. Since the release of Winded, BhJ has been supporting the record with shows in and around the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. The band has also written and recorded their highly anticipated sophomore album.
Brokenheart Jones’ new record, Sunday Best, is set to be released March 2, 2006 at the Varsity Theatre in Dinkytown, Minneapolis. The album captures the stories of love, loss, and worry in 11 original tracks created mostly through the artistic mind of front man, Tim Greenwood. BhJ’s sound reflects the emotional truth and musical compassion that are demonstrated through artists such as The Band, Wilco, and Neil Young.
Compelled by the writing of lead singer/guitarist Tim Greenwood, this group is hell-bent on reviving the passion and heartache so apparent in legendary music of the past. Guitarist/Vocalist Mark Althans brings country style and color to their music with both his rhythm and lead guitar lines. Violinist/Vocalist Amy Tobin adds beautiful and sophisticated melodies that paint the finishing touches on the canvas of each work. On Bass. Ben Foote provides the group with years of experience in every imaginable musical forum. His tasteful playing exhibits a true responsibility to BhJ’s music. Drummer Adam Bilsing is the band’s rhythmic core, with a delicate intensity that moves every song to a stronger and more present level.
With Brokenheart Jones primed and pumped for the release of Sunday Best, this record is sure to explode into the eager ears of fans new and old alike. The band is currently finalizing plans for a Midwestern tour in support of Sunday Best, which will begin at the cd release party- March 2, 2006 at the Varsity Theatre in Dinkytown, Minneapolis. Hold on tight Twin Cities, this band is not messing around. So grab a beer, bring your broken hearts, and prepare to witness American music as it once was, and just maybe, should always be.
