Blackbirds

The Blackbirds are a modern traditional Irish/Celtic
music group in Minneapolis. They are Paul Wehling
(banjo, bouzouki, guitar and vocals), Sam Adams (piano
accordion and vocals), and Sean Egan (tin
whistle, clarinet, percussion and vocals).

Their unique instrumentation and arrangements are an
ideal vehicle for the traditional music of Ireland, Wales,
Scotland and Brittany, which they perform with passion
and skill.

Paul Wehling is a member of renowned Minneapolis Irish
band, Clumsy Lovers, and is a highly sought-after accompanist,
performing with Irish music luminaries such as Paddy O'Brien and Martin
McHugh. Sean Egan has played with Noel Rice and Sean Cleland
in the seminal Chicago Irish band Baal Tinne, as well as Minneapolis
Irish band Field Day, and is a frequent piano player at ceilis and
contra dances. Sam Adams is known as a singer
and accordion player from area coffeehouses and cabarets,
and his work with Welsh music and dance.

Together they are the Blackbirds. Their Celtic music
and song has delighted many at Kieran's Irish Pub
and at dances and festivals in Minneapolis and
Saint Paul. Their first CD, The Earth and the Gravel,
is now available online and in stores near you.
