Alysium is a local band from Minneapolis, Minnesota with five members and a style that is hard to describe. They formed in June of 2000 as a three-piece band playing emo/punk. In mid-2003 they added Eric as lead guitarist and agreed on “Alysium” for a name. John, who used to fill that part, dropped the guitar in exchange for the mic and now sings lead vocals. Later in late 2004 Scott joined the band as the Rhythm guitar player. Billy and Drew are from southern Minnesota, Billy plays bass and Drew plays drums.
Alysium writes their music with attention to both the technical aspects of music as well as the emotional side. With John and his dramatic ways controlling the lyrical wheel, most of the songs are about life experiences and lessons. Having Eric on guitar, Alysium’s music tends to have quite a technical aspect to it; the frequent but cleverly written guitar riffs and even the occasional solo. Billy (bass) does a lot for Alysium by pushing the band in new directions musically. His input is productive, suggesting new ways to make the music like nothing anyone has heard. If you have ever been to an Alysium show, one of the first things you notice is Drew-an animal on the drums, who puts everything he's got into every show. Scott the newest member has stage presents like no one else in the band and he never gets tired of moving around. Finally, this brings us to the last remaining member of Alysium, John. He adds a lot of creative energy to the band and their music with he’s great front man presents. Together Alysium is indescribable, unstoppable and most of all unforgettable.
