What are the letters on green?

The letters on green comprise the words that give us direction. On street signs, on mileage markers and exit signs, the reflective white letters on bright green metal indicate which is the right way, and which is the wrong way.

In a much more profound way, we can find life direction in the teachings of Jesus Christ. This direction has proven invaluable to millions of believers world wide, including the five unique individuals that comprise Letters on Green. We are given life in the tremendous sacrifice of His death, but we enjoy life because of the incredible insight He shared in His life.

Who are Letters on Green?

Letters on Green combines 5 distinct musical personalities - an R&B singer, a punk guitarist, a classical pianist, a rock bass player, and a jazz drummer - and produces a diverse sound behind an equally diverse message. Ryan, Jen and Tim played together in the praise and worship band Upward Call. When more than half of Upward Call's players left in late 2002, Ryan, Jen and Tim vowed to keep the ministry going and started looking for new players.

Jonathan and Tom joined shortly thereafter, and they played a handful of performances as Upward Call. Realizing, however, that this group's mission and focus were far different than those of their namesake, the five decided it was time to start over with a new identity to go along with the new look and new sound. Out of that decision, and extended periods of looking for our own direction, the concept of Letters on Green was revealed.

WE are not the letters that give direction! Only the Word of God, the teachings of Christ, and the movement of the Holy Spirit can give true direction. At most, we are a signpost, or the arrow on the exit sign that points up. All that this band has done, and will continue to do, is because of the tremendous guidance of our Lord, and the presence of His hands in our lives.
