Jerry O'Hagan and his orchestra is a classic Big Band specializing in Swing and Ballroom Dance Music. The full instrumentation includes 4 saxes, 3 trumpets, two trombones, piano, bass, drums and a female vocalist. Jerry leads the band, writes many of the arrangements, and plays jazz clarinet.
The Band was founded in 1990 by Jerry O'Hagan. Jerry studied music at Bemidji State University, the University of Minnesota,and the Berklee School of Music in Boston. He has been an arranging student of Johnny Richards, who was Stan Kenton's chief arranger at one time, and Joe Raposo, who wrote the music for the television show Sesame Street. In addition, he has been playing locally in bands and orchestras for many years including the Jules Herman Orchestra and the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra. The band features musicians who have played with such name entertainers as the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Larry Elgart, Mel Torme, Artie Shaw, Guy Lombardo, Ray Charles, and others.
The band plays many private parties, weddings, benefits, ballrooms, casinos, and other public events through out the area.
There are two albums recorded for listening and dancing, Dance Party and In A Romantic Mood. The albums are available in both tapes and CD's. |
