Armed with her graceful, soaring voice, and her undeniable skill for carving out everyday images in almost startling detail, New York-based singer-songwriter Edie Carey grabs hold of her audiences and doesn't let go until she steps off the stage. While her songs are what first draw listeners in, it's what she says in between them that keeps them there. As much a part of her show as the music itself, Carey's wry and often self-mocking humor, coupled with her ability to tell a great story, leave her fans feeling as though they have just spent an evening with a very close friend.

Touring nationally (and internationally) since 1999, Carey has played such prestigious rooms as New York's Bottom Line, Bowery Ballroom, Fez, and Makor. She also frequents the Somerville Theatre & Club Passim in Boston, the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton, The Bluebird Café in Nashville, The Emelin Theatre in Mamaroneck, Genghis Cohen in Los Angeles, C'est What? in Toronto, and The 12Bar and The Borderline in London. She has performed at several festivals including the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival, the Southern Womyn's Festival, The Houston Women's Festival, and Chicago's Edgewater Days and Market Days, earning friends and fans across the country.

Carey recently opened for Melissa Ferrick on her Spring 2004 tour, and has appeared with such artists as Leo Kottke, Patty Larkin, Karla Bonoff, Cliff Eberhardt, Luka Bloom, Brooks Williams, Lucy Kaplansky, Peter Mulvey, Christine Lavin, The Nields, and Sandra Bernhard.
