Two Mile Stretch

There's a new sound brewing in the streets of Minnesota's Twin Cities and making its way through the Midwest and beyond. Blending the organic sounds of acoustic guitar and percussion with the modern rhythmic influences and the unconventional methods of using those instruments, Two Mile Stretch is taking acoustic music to new heights. Their signature style and sound, referred to as urban acoustic rock, captures the essence of modern urban music with the primary genre influence of acoustic rock. By comparison, Two Mile Stretch possesses the youthful acoustic sound of Jason Mraz, the artistry of David Gray and Dave Matthews, with the free-spirited improvisational nature of Phish or John Mayer, topped off with emotional and moody overtones you'd experience with Coldplay or U2.

Front man Michael Miles has been developing the idea of Two Mile Stretch for over three years but hasn't seen its fruition until he began collaborating with drummer and percussionist Jim Orvis. In late 2002, Michael and Jim began experimenting with the realm of acoustic music and attempting to push the perceived boundaries, only to begin exploring a new realm of music that was beyond convention-it was truly multidimensional and multifaceted in every way possible.

They launched out into the Twin Cities music scene in December of 2003 with a CD release party, celebrating the arrival of two new CD's Through and Studio72 Sampler 2003. Through is a solo acoustic CD that Michael Miles re-mastered and re-released featuring new songs thrown into the mix, nearly maxing out the CD capacity. The Studio72 Sampler 2003 EP, features five new full-band studio mixes of some of Michael's newer material and one bonus track offering a sneak-peak at the new two-man approach to music: Two Mile Stretch. Two Mile Stretch is currently developing a live EP to give a great representation of their live shows along with a full-length CD capturing their two-man urban acoustic rock sound.

Two Mile Stretch is adjusting its target from local and regional venues to the college and university circuit throughout the Midwest along with community fairs and music festivals. You can expect to start hearing them on college radio stations and select indie-friendly radio programs by winter of 2004.

Michael Miles has been performing both solo and with bands for over a decade through the United States and has been writing material for almost 15 years. Michael's counterpart Jim Orvis brings with him a kaleidoscope of experiences, all of which have taken him around the globe in a number of different bands. Michael and Jim are an explosive combination together-between Jim's innovative and brain-child drumming techniques and Michael's passionate, transparent and non-conventional presentation of truth through music, they are a musical force deserving of recognition and exposure to a much wider audience. It's this combination that creates the kind of performance that leaves people talking, thoroughly rewarded and far exceeds their expectations.
